Good monitor but it could be supplied with 5A plug instead of 15A. Plug sockets of 15A are lesser in house and thus restricts placement of monitor in room.

The media could not be loaded.

Everything is good with the monitor except that the brightness level is high with brightness intelligence turned on and no way to adjust the brightness. Only option to adjust the brightness is after turning the brightness intelligence off.

I purchased this monitor for the sole purpose of using it as a vertical monitor. My job requires me to read a lot on my PC, and ever since I started using one a few weeks ago, vertical monitors have become indispensable in my Work From Home setup. This is my second such monitor, the first one been a Dell P2419H, commendably serving my requirements in the office. At home, however, I felt the need for a slightly larger screen; one that can be kept at a distance, so that my study table isn’t cluttered. The Dell P2719H was my first consideration. Its asking price, however, far exceeded the budget I had allocated for the purpose. My second option was the HP E273 – again, priced as much as the Dell, so was dropped. The third option was a model by AOC (a brand I didn’t know a lot about). It seemed to tick all the boxes, and in fact I even ordered it. And that’s when I came across this new Prime Day launch by BenQ. It was going at ₹17,500, a good ₹3500 less than the Dell’s asking price. So it didn’t take me long to convince myself to cancel my AOC order, and opt for this BenQ monitor instead.

On its own, this is a good monitor, and one that does its job well. Its when you have the luxury to compare it with another IPS panel, that you notice the shortcomings. Like I said, the IPS panel on the BenQ GW2780T is good, but Dell’s panel is better. The build quality is good, but Dell’s is superior. The BenQ’s speakers are rubbish, and my laptop’s internal speakers are way better. No, seriously. The speakers on the BenQ are terrible, and aren’t even loud enough to justify their inclusion. The Dell, on the other hand, did not even bother to mount any speakers, for better or worse; instead, Dell comes with a built-in USB hub, which is a far more useful feature to have. It has 2 USB 3.0 ports, and 2 USB 2.0 ports. The slower USB 2.0 ports are useful to plug in your wireless keyboard/mouse dongle, and the the USB 3.0 ports are always useful to have if you wish to leave your portable HDD plugged in (haven’t tested their transfer speeds). Hands down I’d opt for Dell’s USB hub feature over BenQ’s terrible internal speakers. Both Dell and BenQ offer matte finish panels, which are inherently less reflective, unlike the HP E273, I think.

Like I said, the Dell’s display panel is, in my opinion, superior to the BenQ’s. Lesser backlight bleeding and better colour reproduction are two things that I immediately noticed. Also, the viewing angles are better on the Dell, although both BenQ and Dell house IPS panels. Then again, BenQ’s panel is more than sufficient for my requirement, which is to read documents and articles in the vertical position. Both the panels appear to have a similar set of additional features, with one model offering something that the other doesn’t, and vice versa.

To sum up: but for the significant price difference, I would have opted for the 27″ version of Dell’s offering. But that doesn’t mean that BenQ’s GW2780T is a bad monitor by any means. In fact, on its own, I think its a very capable monitor, and its capabilities match my requirements sufficiently. But if and when you do find the price difference to be negligible, I would suggest you opt for the Dell’s offering. You will not go wrong in opting for this BenQ monitor. Its just that Dell is better, and it costs a lot more.

Extremely low Audio volume. Should increase to 2W per channel. 16A plug for a 19W device is overkill. Can use a 6Amp.

Firstly, I’ve previously purchased and returned x2 PG279QR IPS ASUS monitors, and I’ve also returned a PG278QR TN Panel ASUS monitor because the quality control is so poor imo. They both cost well above £500. The IPS on those panels had terrible backlight bleeding, and the high refresh rate and G-Sync still didn’t justify the price. I decided to settle for this. A sub -£200 24 inch IPS monitor in the meantime, and I’m so glad I did. I’m so impressed! I’ve overclocked it to 84hz on my 1080ti to make things a little smoother, and the screen is beautiful to look at. For £119 it has the tiniest of back light bleed on the top left, it’s not even noticeable check my pictures. On previous expensive monitors back-light bleeding is a terrible eye sore it ruined everything good.

I have 2 small cons, and they aren’t even big. The screen could be a tiny bit brighter, so that during bright summer days it stands out a bit more. But it’s perfect in the dark and again not even really an issue. And the speakers are quiet and tinny. But to be honest. I don’t care, I have speakers plugged in for that exact reason, but the fact it has them at all is still really nice. Dropping from 2k to 1080p I thought I’d notice too, but to be honest, after adjusting the picture and sharpness, I can honestly live with it. The colour depth is lovely and I’m just impressed. I’m tempted to get a second and have a dual monitor display. The stand can be a tiny bit wobbly, but as long as you’re not banging around again, it’s firmly supported and not a problem.

Cable management is a nice after thought. Supports Displayport. Nice matte screen finish. Anti scratch surface (I have a pet hate of shiny surfaces).
Screen tearing isn’t even that bad, maybe running at 84hz helps. But I’m enjoying gaming on this and I’ve tried 2 different gaming high refresh rate monitors before this!

If you’re in doubt go for it.

    ** Update 2 Weeks later **

I’ve decided to sadly drop this to 4 stars. All the pros I’ve mentioned still stand strong. I ordered a 2nd monitor and now I have an excellent duel monitor setup. However viewing a black screen I have noticed the backlight bleed along the top and left hand side are considerably more noticeable now especially when warm – and I’m pretty picky. However, at this price, and since backlight bleed is obviously unavoidable when it comes to an IPS screen I feel it’s a good compromise. But just worth mentioning.

** UPDATE AGAIN IN 2020 ** – I bought the first two a few years ago. I recently settled for a 3rd monitor to accommodate my gaming/multitasking and work. I’ve placed the new monitor in the middle and the two previous monitors either side, I have to say, I’m impressed. Over time the backlight bleed in the top left corner of my original two I would say got a tiny tiny bit worse, but not catastrophically, and it didn’t ruin the image for me at all (I nit-pick so I do seek it out when I’m presented with a black screen in some sort of weird hope that it’s rectified itself which of course is wishful thinking). But this new monitor has a definite improvement in BLB. It’s barely there at all. I notice the bottom bezel of the screen wasn’t as tight fitting to the panel (concerned me at first). But I suspect it’s in an attempt to put less stress on the panel and allow less light to leak. I’ve noticed as well this screen seems much richer in contrast and colour. The blacks are much, much improved showing almost no glow. Something I didn’t even notice on my previous monitors. So I’d say there’s been an improvement in quality/control since I bought my first two. The buttons are slightly less tactile but I barely use them. It’s almost a bit annoying now the main middle monitor is slightly better than the other two. However – I’m keeping an eye out for a Spyder 5 pro 2nd hand to try and match the colour profiles/look across all 3 screens anyway. So hopefully after that they’re all as close to each other in terms of picture as possible – Long story short, I still love these monitors. I’d bump it to 4.5 stars if I could, since the backlight bleed has been significantly reduced. My new monitor can clock to 77HZ, anything over that and it fails. I have them setup on a 3 monitor arm (which I’d highly recommend as the stand can be a tiny bit wobbly).

A nice product and I am happy that I purchased the same. Even long working hours (3-4 hours) does minimum eye fatigue!
I would have been really excited if it was Made in India product and not a China made product. Hope the things are changed now.

Recently bought this monitor for work from home. Picture quality is at next level. Height adjustment works perfect. Only disappointment is that it comes with 16 Amp plug which can’t be plugged on the normal power sockets. I had to buy a converter for this. I really don’t understand why it can’t provide a plug which is suitable for the Indian households.

I’ve already got 3 other BenQ monitors and they’re great, so when I needed a fourth one I went for this model as it’s an updated version of my other 3, but it’s nowhere near as good as the older versions.

This monitor just looks cheap due to the finish, but my main complaint is the actual picture quality. I’ve got it set to max brightness and it still looks dull compared to my other monitors. Also the viewing angles are bad. Unless your looking directly at the monitor you can’t see anything, it’s just too dull.

I then went to clean the screen as there were some smears on it and it’s impossible to get it smear free due to the anti scratch plastic they’ve put on the screen (which is what actually makes it so dull). I did think that maybe this was a protective layer that had been put on to protect it in transport and when I picked at a corner it started to come off. I then pulled it a bit more and it started to peal off, but not very easily, which makes me think this layer is meant to stay on there.

Anyway, I managed to peak it all off and the result is a much brighter monitor and the screen can now be cleaned properly. This does mean the screen is now a glossy finish rather than matt, but the picture quality is now better.
