Pros :
– Excellent performance with max powered RTX 3070 (140 W) – also has MUX switch
You can easily achieve 60+ fps maxed out settings in any modern game at 1080p .
1440p 60fps (external monitor) also should be possible with some minor tweaks and adjustments
– High refresh rate and vibrant screen with great response time
– Pre-installed SSD is super fast (over 6000 MB/s in crystaldiskmark)
– All metal build except the back cover (good for a gaming laptop)
– Good ventilations
– MSI center has some good features (Limit battery charge, cooler boost, Hardware monitoring)
Cons
– only 65Wh battery even though it can easily fit at least 80Wh
– GPU temperatures are great but CPU can get really hot (repasting and undervolting should help)
– From the videos I have seen, removing this laptop to do any upgrade (RAM,SSD etc) is a pain due to how difficult it is to remove the back cover
– No USB C Port at all (This can be kind of a dealbreaker if you have a lot of USB C accessories . My 6 year old laptop has USB C but not this one. I personally do not have much use for a usb c port even thought it would be great to have one for the future)
Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. I had 2 options in mind, either this or the legion 5 pro. Legion 5 pro with the 3070 is not available at this price range and is out of stock on the official website. If you are deciding between this or the legion 5 pro(rtx 3070 , 5800h ) (assuming around the same price) I would suggest going with the legion 5 pro for its battery, really good port selection, and the 5800h is more than enough for gaming and is much more efficient.
I will update this review based on my experience for long term.

Initial impressions: These are my initial impressions of the product after using it for around 2 days.
Taking it out of the box for the first time you will immediately notice the solid build quality and also the fingerprint magnet nature of the lid. Opening it for the first time, the hinges are perfect and stiff enough to be stable and not wobble while typing/moving around while also being smooth enough to be able to open with one hand. When switching it on for the first time, The keyboard just invites you to type on it, it’s a very pleasant keyboard to type on with minimal flex to the chassis. Felt right at home while typing on it, only pressed the wrong keys while gaming(Coming from a full-sized mechanical gaming keyboard). The trackpad is pretty small by today’s standards and is not as pleasant to use as the keyboard. The keyboard deck gets pretty cold to the touch when not being used but feels like plastic so I’m not sure about the type of material being used but it surely does not feel cheap at all.
Coming to the performance of the laptop, its performance is as good as any 3060/i7 combo can get on a gaming laptop, the CPU heats up to about 95 degrees but the GPU stays pretty cool between 75 and 85 degrees all the time. The screen is pretty color accurate and gorgeous to look at, with smooth animations because of the fast 240Hz refresh rate. Coming to fan noise the Laptop does get pretty vocal when gaming or doing heavy tasks. The SSD is a gen4 one and is very fast with around 6000 plus read speeds and 4000 plus write.
The only downside I would complain about in this laptop is the battery, which delivers subpar battery life due to its small size and also because of it being powered by intel and not an AMD processor.
If battery life is not a concern for you surely go for this device.

I’ve been toying around with the idea of an rtx based gaming laptop for a while. I already have a work laptop (hp x360 with stylus support) and an old nitro5 which was due for an upgrade.. i made a mistake the first time and went for gl65 10th gen rtx 2060 (to be honest, that would have been a good laptop as well but unfortunately seller sent a defective model and didn’t have a replacement so had to return it).
I almost ordered a legion 5 before this as well as been enquiring offline dell showrooms about Alienware m15 r6 (yeah, I’m confused AF i know 😁)
Finally settled on this one and boy, am i glad I did 😊
Now for a detailed review:
PROs:
1. Speed (be it SSD, GPU, cpu or any component, one thing’s common – hell of a speed)
2. The rich detailed 240Hz screen
3. Rtx 3060 (enough said)
Cons:
1. No usb-c or thunderbolt port
2. Charging brick is heavy so if you are planning to carry it everyday to two places, ensure you get a second charger with flat pin specification
3. Reason for no. 2 being battery backup is very low (unless you disable backlit RGB keyboard and set display to 60Hz)
4. Gaming laptops are supposed to heat up so i guess heating isn’t an issue confined to this model alone even though I should also add this handles the heating way better than, say Acer Nitro or Helios by having an option to manually switch on full speed fans whenever we need
