We had a X900C for a long time and felt we paid too much for it. The contrast was ok, there were lights showing up on corners. When buying a new one, was getting X80J for 70% the price of this and did not know why we should pay more for same size TV, till we checked the difference online and saw it in real life. Colours are stunning, contrast is great, black is black. Smart TV features are common, though supports Airplay too and connects to almost anything. 120Hz refresh rate is just icing on the cake.

I am a Sony TV user for more than 10+ yrs. I was having a Sony 32 Inches LCD TV, as a time for replacement went ahead with Sony Bravia 55 Inches 4K Google TV. Our first experience with the picture quality & sound was fantabulous.

Installation & Demo was quick and easy. Upesh & Bhavesh were very helpful.
I’ve spent a few days exploring the Sony Bravia X85Js features and I am loving it so far. The Color processing is super accurate and the Color depth and 4K resolution at 120hz on Dolbyvision is spectacular. 4K Ultra HD at around 20Mbps looks really good – also observed decent upscaling of 1080p content. Turn off Digital noise reduction and Motionflow as they make the content look over processed and artificial – don’t care for the soap opera effect that these settings tend to create. Google TV is a joy to use and works well with voice commands and comes up with useful choices once you train it with a few searches and link some of the OTT apps you frequently use for driving recommendations. At a viewing distance of around 5 feet – the 55 inch screen is big enough for a near cinematic effect especially once you pair it with a soundbar. The TV audio is decent when cranked up but lacks the overall depth of sound and satisfying thud of the bass port of a quality soundbar to bring you a near cinema quality experience. I will include my experience with Bluetooth/4K Blu-ray and console gaming in my next update.

The picture quality is decent which is what is expected from a mid range TV like this. You get best picture experience when you play HDR or Dolby Vision content, everything else will be an average experience.
The software and the hardware chip/processor is a let down on this TV. The content has a lot of motion stuttering, frames drop randomly as the processor is not able to catchup with the content sometimes, sometimes motion interpolcation creates a flash effect, its better to keep motion interpolation off altogether.
Google TV OS is also a letdown in many ways, I have to restart the TV to get rid of random issues like wifi connection issues, sometimes no sound output from eARC, sometimes content has random noise/distortion.
I’d rather suggest to go for X90J if you have the budget.

Update: Unfortunately, let down by sony. The 4k 120hz mode does not work at full 4k resolution. There is a noticeable degradation in image quality in this mode due to half vertical resolution. Extremely let down as i got this tv specifically for 4k 120 support. Thought the ps5 would be best supported by a sony tv but i was wrong. This isnt right.
Update, post 2 months: i tried most routes to contact sony and check on the 4k 120hz issue but did not have much success, furthermore, after two months, another issue that cropped up are feint vertical bars when using the hdmi 4 port (for hdmi 2.1 with the ps5) Just when i thought id just bite the bullet and choose to ignore that blurry text, a new issue just pops up and drives me stark raving mad.
i have had it with this television, i have also given up on having any sort of resolution for this lemon of a panel. Most of the issues i have mentioned might not even be noticed by the average OTT streamer. But look, when u fork up the money that can get you a decent gaming pc, on a tv, you would expect good performance and QC.
Buyer beware in this situation, i know sony is the leader when it comes to colour reproduction, but their earlier fiascos with last gen models, my shoddy experience with this panel is enough to warrant warning all pixel peepers like me to not make the same mistake of buying a panel without the proper research.
However, Excellent Delivery and installation process. Very Accomodating crew. That was the only good thing.

After weeks of searching and researching finally settled on this TV. Trust me in 55inch size and if you don’t want OLED it’s the best TV. It’s close competitor will be Samsung Q70A but Sony comes with much more life like colors. Special thanks to JP Singh from Sony for quick installation.
