Sanyo 1 Ton 5 Star Inverter Split AC (Copper, 2021 Model, SI/SO-10T5SDIA White)

Useless junk. Does not work. No cooling only works as an expensive fan, which does not even cool. Go for other brands.
Update number 2: apparently the customer has to call the service centre for the so called AC servicing which a customer is supposed to be provided 3 times.Kindly note that the customer service works like a robot with a robotic speech and common sense. I have purchased the AC in Oct 2019 and till date no call from the Sanyo team asking when can the technician be sent for the servicing but I did get repeated call to change the rating of this review.

Purchased on prime day so got 1k off from list price + 1750/- additional card offer. It is a steal for 26799 BUT there is a 1500 installation charge so if we factor in that and AC electrical wiring charges (if any) would work out to under 35k, which still is pretty good value.

The ordering to installation was a breeze, even efficient than buying from a store. We were not available at the time of delivery. So I told them to place it in the sit out and leave. The delivery boys placed it such a way to avoid plain sight and covered it with a towel that was in my hangar 🙂 and closed all gates and hinges to avoid someone taking it away without notice. Full marks to the delivery team. I didn’t say any of these things yet they were cautious. It is rainy season here and even at the time of delivery, it was raining. yet the product packaging didn’t have any sign of moisture. A+. It took 3 days to deliver in total. Nice. This is in Trivandrum, Kerala.

The installation office (Panasonic) called the next morning and asked if the unit is delivered and on confirmation, told that the team would come the next day, but later in the day they called again and asked if I was available by 5pm as someone had cancelled and they had an open slot the same day. I told yes and they(2) came on time. The team consisted of one pro guy and one intern(ITI visit) and both were polite and professional. They did come with a stabilizer in hand and slightly pushed me for it. But I politely said NO. I showed them my Samsung AC(2010 non inverter) model which also is stabilizer free(S-UTR compressor) and 9 years later, it still is fine. So they resumed to installation and asked if I knew of the installation charges[Scared of a fight at last 🙂 ], to which I told yes :). Rest was smooth, I tried to vaccum out simultaneously while he did drilling but still it was dusty after the big hole drill. So had to dust and wipe the room clean anyways 🙂 while one did the indoor unit wiring, one did air hole ducting with thermocol(efficient time management).

Points to note. My electrician already bought the AC ka 3 pin 16Amps top while wiring and told they’ll ask for it, and they did, Only after they setup the indoor unit(not before or while on phone). I had it already so didn’t had to run last minute (I don’t know if they had it but they told me that they need it) then for white cement to close off out door unit ka hole to avoid lizards and rats nesting inside(again I had it, but would have been nice if they told is before coming so we be ready) . Rest all went smoothly and they fitted the outdoor unit to my convenience. Also told We get 3 free services(1yr validity) from Panasonic and to keep the invoice handy. Great.

Shoppers, have these things ready with you to avoid surge pricing while installation :D(The 3 pin is like 75 bucks (Anchor make) but they might charge you a bomb at the time of installation. So be prepared.

Coming to the AC(for me, non inverter to inverter), Noiseless operation was the highlight. Its so quiet. We dont know when the compressor is kicking in also. Truly Seamless operation 🙂

Cooling is great, fan speed even at full is not that forceful I’d say. BUT switch to Glacier mode and now, the fan speed is at the highest and room gets chilled fast. It does have an inbuilt stabilizer unit inside when we switch it on and off, we can hear a clicking noise just like a stabilizer after a few seconds. All in all a terrific value for money product.

Cons : overall AC’s built quality feels cheaper and so does with all AC’s of today. Especially the outdoor units have no mesh or covering of any sorts. And the metal quality is also way thinner, if anyone presses on top of it, it would get bent. The rubber grommets under the 4 legs is also missing. I didn’t fix it on stands, just placed on sun shade with 4 bricks on 4 sides.

The unit takes 1 second to respond to remote press. Remote looks cheap. The modes are shown by dots on display and corresponding written modes are stickered on the side of the display(point is, Remote tech is worse 10 years later). Remote is standard Panasonic one with a Sanyo sticker. so can’t cringe too much.

Will update more after using for a few months. Haven’t even switched on after installation day. Its rainy and chilly here 😀

I had purchased 4 of them for my apartment, the purchase to delivery process was excellent. Within no time even installer called up to schedule the time. But the horror started when the actual installer landed at home, inspite of requesting they did not have a vacuum pump to purge the system and do a leak test. They just let off some gas and press service valve to see if system is holding pressure! Two of the units had leak in the pipe which needed tightening, but this is as crude as it can get in installs.

Installation process I strongly doubt is outsourced to local freelancers and that is definitely disconcerting.

The unit comes only with connection cable between indoor and outdoor unit and no wire to connect to the power / stabiliser source. The drain pipe is minimal and would need to purchase extension pipe since it is barely a feet long. In short, these are the things that one needs to account for.

– Power wire
– Drain pipe extension
– Stand
– Stabiliser, though site said it is stabiliser free, the power range was too narrow. So added v-guard inverter specific ones

I would have definitely paid a thousand more if Sanyo could provide company installers like other brands, who will do all the proper checks and installation process.

Coming to the product, it is absolutely value for money. Cools pretty well though the remote is little confusing to use with the various modes provided. Rating the product five star. But be prepared for installation surprises.
