  1. The Honest Guy

    Final update:
I give up, only thing left out of this experience was the cost involved in fixing and removing over and over again. The clicking noise doesn’t go away no matter what I try. Atombergs website says injecting quick glue is an option, but I think it’ll damage the paint for sure. Was looking forward to this fan, sigh. Sour experience, hoping atomberg tightens up their quality control soon. 🙁
In the end, I returned the product. Maybe I’ll try their products again in the future. This fan had so much potential, if only those pesky issues were sorted out.

Paint- extremely thin, maybe weight savings? But isn’t durable that’s for sure.
Noise- annoying clicking noise..sigh I really wanted a silent fan

    Update 2:
Day 1 of the replacement fan, thought it would be good atleast THIS time. Speed 5 has the same issue of noise. Vibration noise when shifting from speed 4 to 6. Wobbles alot. Will try to refit again and update the review.

    Update 1:
The clicking noise kept getting worse. The atomberg service personnel came and checked and deemed it to have a manufacturing defect, opted out of changing parts alone since the fan is brand new and ordered a replacement through amazon.

Few shocking facts that I realised after getting the replacement . The body of the fan had vibration dampers near the blade mounting regions (pictures attached) my old fan didn’t have them.
QC sticker on this one which my old fan didn’t have.
Removable wrapper on the face of the fan to prevent scratches which my old fan didn’t have during unboxing.
The blades were covered in the box too.

Not sure if I got a used fan before. The new ones unboxing experience seemed much better.

Installed the new one today, the wobble seems a bit higher than before.
Will wait for a week before I decide.

First time replacing a product on amazon, never had these problems before.
    Let’s be honest here,

It’s an expensive fan alright, 3.8k is alot for a fan but considering the technological benefits, does it even out? Yes. Is the quality there? Not quite there to be honest. Well, let’s split the benefits from the setbacks according to me

    Benefits:

    1) 35W max for the highest speed (speed 6 or boost mode). 50 % cost savings at the highest speeds when compared to conventional fans, 28W at speed 5 and it keeps reducing to 3 or 5W( not sure exactly but it’s very less) I guess for speed 1. 💰 Money saving benefits – Key selling point of the fan

    2) It’s quite fast on boost mode, very airy.

    3) the led acts as a night lamp, so one more electrical benefit here. (Wish it could have a brightness control, super bright when viewed head on at nights). Nice ambient lighting on the floor though.

    4) Timer and sleep mode? Naaah, more like a fancy thing. But the feel good factor knowing it’s there? Yes.

    5) Wind noise is there aplenty, but there’s no motor noise to speak of.

6)Tiny cute little remote that works pretty well, no need to point exactly at the fan, just direct the remote up, press the button and it works.

    7) the switch on your board itself can be used to turn on the fan and set it’s speeds incase you misplace the remote. Press once wait for the led lights to complete a rotation and then turn off and on once for speed 1, twice for 2 and so on till 6(boost).

    8) It switches on to the last set speed in case you toggle it from the switch board itself.

Now coming to my most favourite feature of this fan of them all,

    9) Incase of a power failure, you don’t need to turn on the fan again using the remote like in the case of orient ecotech and oceco fans etc. It automatically turns on to last set speed provided the switch on the switch board is still in the on position. Quite useful for those 5 mins power cuts at night, glad to know it can still act like a normal fan at such instances unlike other brands.

    10) You can see the DC coil through the translucent cover for the LED’s, uber cool touch right there.

    Now coming to the negatives,
    1) Quality issues aplenty, My fan had paint peel on a few areas on the wings. Ignored since no one could notice it from a distance, say from the roof.

    2) The canopies had rough burr edges on the right rod merging areas. Had to shave them off with a knife before pushing the rod through it.

    3) Wish the serial number could be engraved onto a steel or aluminium plaque instead of just a sticker.

Now coming to the biggest grouse,

    4) My biggest grouse of this fan is the annoying clicking noise at speed 5, rarely happens at 4 , super silent at other speeds. I tried to tighten every single bolt but and screw out there …but it just happens, sticking to speed 6 or 4 for now. Will contact service if it gets any worse, don’t want to go through the hassle just yet since it’s the only fan in our bedroom.

    5) Wobbles a bit too because of it’s light weight (not exactly a negative, just adding the details in).

    Overall,
It’s just a fan in the end, hoping it stays reliable atleast till the money benefit returns kick in.
BLDC in ceiling fans is still relatively new tech, so you have to completely rely on atomberg service team. Don’t know what issues I’ll face after 3 years. Let’s just hope for the best.
Overall, an okay buy. Not extremely happy or sad about it. Nothing to rave about either. Hopefully it pays back well when it comes to electricity savings.

Have a great day people, sorry about the long review, just wanted to share all my honest thoughts.

  2. Help Ever, Hurt Never.

The media could not be loaded.

A good fan. But it is making noise more than my old crompton fan. Found two screws on the shank whose function i couldn’t guess. Removing them was a difficult task. Instructions for safety wire are not clear. Found a video for havels fan in youtube, Did it in my own way after understanding the principle. Atomberg can improve the installation instructions.Holes in the shank to pass the cable has sharp edges. It spoiled and tore of the insulation on cables. I changed thr canle. Painting quality on shank is not good.
Atomberg would have provided electric cable of one meter length. I had to run to a nearby shop and installation was delayed due to this. These simple things may delight the customer.

I have done a bit of research before buying this. BLDC is the same technology use to drive electric scooters, you might have wondered how such small battery can run the scooter for several kilo metres. Yes, it’s all about power saving and that ‘s the BLDC motor. I bought two of this model and a cheaper Gorilla model too. So total i have 3 fans running for last 2 months and here is my review based on that. I know, my reviews are always lengthy, but sorry for that.

    The good
    # These fans are super power saving(28W) compared to traditional fans(75W) and modern power saving fans (50W)
    # Wind throw is more higher than the regular fans and much higher than power saving fans
    # The fan can be controlled by remote
    # Needs no regulator to operate (You can’t use regulator even if you wish to)
    # Any Gorilla fan can be controlled by Any gorilla remote (Different models too)
    # Sleep mode, reduces speed automatically every 2 hours
    # Off timer (1~6 hours)
    # The LED in middle serves as night lamp
    # Even if you miss the remote, you can control speed easily using switch(Only in higher variants)
    # Looks so super stylish
    # Even lower energy consumption when used at low speeds
    # 3 years warranty, can be extended for one more year

    Cons
    # Is lightweight and has very minute wobbling
    # One of the fans i bought was buggy that the speed keeps going down and up when put in speed 5.
    # This model attracts more dust compared to Efficio models (Don’t know why)

    Is it really costly ?
No. I can give you a simple calculation to prove it. An average person uses a fan 12 hours a day, which means a saving of 0.565 units daily compared to a 75 watt fan. (75-28)*12 = 565. Yearly you can save around 205 units of electricity, which means roughly 820 Rs a year (Assumed cost per KWH is 4 Rs, which is the minimum. In cities it’s higher than that).

Cost of a good ceiling fan = 2500 Rs
Extra electricity consumed = 820 Rs
Cost of a regulator = 300 Rs (I saved 600 Rs as my boards are Panasonic)
Total cost for first year = 3620 Rs

Price of Gorilla fan = 3800 Rs
Saving from second year = 820 Rs
Saving from third year = 820 Rs
    etc . etc. .

It’s a fact that ceiling fan is most energy consuming device in every family, which many people are not aware of. 12 hours a day, a normal fan means, 0.9 units a day. If you have 3 rooms, 2.7 units a day. If you can change 3 fans to Gorilla fans, you can cut this to 1 unit a day for all the 3 fans.

    Are DC fans reliable?
I have a mixed opinion here. My friend has been using a Super fan for few years now and Gorilla fan for an year now and he has no issues yet. But one among the 3 fans i purchased has a buggy firmware, now i have to replace it under warranty.

How Good is the wind throw?
The wind throw is better than a normal 75 watt as per the specs and real world tests. I remember the specs says 240 CM compared to 220 and 230 offered by popular brands.

Should i buy this model or a cheaper model?
I recommend this fan for living rooms and main halls only. For bed rooms you can go for cheaper Efficio model as it has less options and hence maybe more reliable. Efficio doesn’t looks so good and the remote is bigger. I didn’t like the Red LED compared to blue one on Renessa+

Should i change all my fans at once?
No. Don’t do that. Atomberg may launch more better and optimised models in the future. So start changing with those fans which you use the most.

Overall, i would highly recommend this fan to anyone who is planning to buy a new fan. Please don’t compare the fan price with the super cheap ceiling fans as they are not durable and use cheaper materials. I remember one of my friends had 4 cheap luminous models and all of them were dead in less than 5 years of usage. So buy either Atomberg or Medium priced good brand fans only. Definitely DC fans can cut down your electric bills dramatically, i assure. You can start with one or two fans.
